UV is the abbreviation of Ultraviolet, which is also called as UV-curable painting. The UV curing process is to cure the ink, paint, glue and other related chemicals by a certain intensity of ultraviolet light irradiation, and the solvent is volatilized during the processing. After the workpiece is painted, it passes through the UV oven, and under the ultraviolet light irradiation, the ultraviolet light sensitive agent is excited by the ultraviolet light to initiate the curing process of the resin molecule crosslinking reaction.
Advantages and disadvantages of UV painting:
Advantage:
◆ Fast curing: usually only a few seconds to fully cure;
◆ High hardness: usually above 2H;
◆ High solids: up to 95% solids;
◆ Small pollution: only about 5% of organic solvents.
Disadvantages:
◆ Need to invest in a special UV oven;
◆ Not suitable for irregular surface products: need UV light to illuminate the paint surface to dry.
◆ The paint cannot be exposed to sunlight before construction, otherwise it is easy to deteriorate.
UV painting changes characteristics:
● Gloss: the greater the intensity of ultraviolet light, the higher the gloss
● The hardness of UV paint is generally better than other paints, generally as low as 2H or more, even the same coating, also shows different apparent hardness on different materials; the thicker the coating, the more apparent hardness high, in general, film hardness and flexibility are two contradictory factors. When the coating film is too hard, it is brittle and easy to crack, and the hardness and wear resistance are not completely proportional.
