What is sheet metal fabrication?
Sheet metal fabrication is a comprehensive cold processing technique for flat metal sheets (typically the thickness under 6mm), it's normally done by shearing, punching, cutting, compositing, folding, riveting, splicing, forming etc., its significant characteristics of metal is the same thickness in a part.
Process characteristics
Sheet metal has the characteristics of lightweight, high strength, electrical conductivity (can be used for electromagnetic shielding), low cost, and easy mass production performance. It has been widely used in electronics, telecommunications, automotive industry, medical equipment and other fields. In computer cases, mobile phones, and MP3s, sheet metal is an essential component. With the increasing application of sheet metal, the design of sheet metal parts has become an important part of the product development process. Mechanical engineers must be proficient in designing sheet metal parts so that the designed sheet metal can meet the requirements of the product. Functional and appearance requirements can also make the manufacture of stamping dies simple and low cost.

Common materials and related applications
The materials of sheet metal fabrication are generally thin flat metal sheets, the commonly used materials are SECC, which is galvanized steel. This is used popularly in some electronics products, and it has a high corrosion resistance and a certain decoration. For example, computer cases used mostly galvanized steel.
In addition, there is SPCC, which is ordinary cold-rolled sheet. This is generally used for the processing of steel ingots. The steel ingots are continuously rolled and then convert into some sheets and coils of steel plates that meet the requirements.

The third is the SGCC, or hot-dip galvanized steel plate, which consists of some hot gadolinium or semi-finished of cold-rolled product, through a high heat of about 460 degrees, coated with a layer of zinc on the sheet, which is then leveled and chemically treated.
The fourth is SUS304, which is one of the stainless steels. This is the most widely used, and almost everyone has the opportunity to use this stainless-steel product.
The fifth is SUS301, this is also one of the stainless steels, but this stainless steel has poor corrosion resistance and is mainly used for springs and shell splinter.
Sheet metal fabrication is widely used, such as mechanical parts, automobile shell manufacturing, medical device manufacturing, communications engineering, and stainless-steel doors and windows, various large or small cases, control boxes, etc. that are used by our families. With the development of sheet metal fabrication technology, the demand of sheet metal fabrication in various industries is also increasing.
